Someone sent you a HopBack link. Here is everything you need, which is not much. No account, no download, about three minutes.
It opens in your browser, on your computer or your phone. Type your name once so your comments are labelled. That is the whole sign-in.
Click the exact thing you want to talk about: a heading, a button, a photo, a paragraph. A carrot pin drops and a comment box opens. Type, then post. Do it as many times as you like.
When you are done, choose Approve if it is good to go, or Send feedback if you want changes. Then close the tab. The team is told the moment you finish. If you approved, enjoy the confetti.
Comment mode turns clicks into pins. Browse mode lets you click links and move around the site normally. Switch at the top of the page.
On a website review, move between pages as you normally would. Your pins stay where you left them.
Use Desktop, Tablet or Mobile at the top to see how the site looks at each width, and pin anything that only goes wrong at one of them.
Click a pin to see the conversation and reply. The team may reply to you there too.
Add a reference image or screenshot to a comment if it helps explain what you mean, up to 25 MB.
If the project runs in rounds, you will see which round you are in. Your earlier rounds stay available from the same link.
On a video, scrub to the moment, click the spot on the frame, and comment. Your comment carries the timestamp.
Pin the thing, not the area. Click the button, not the space beside it. The pin tells the designer exactly what you mean.
Say what, and if you can, why. "Make this heading shorter, it wraps on my phone" beats "this feels off". The why lets the designer solve the real problem.
Show, if you can. Attach a reference image, a color you like or a screenshot to the comment. "More like this" with a picture saves a round.
One comment per thing. Three pins are easier to act on than one pin with three requests.
Your own words beat a pasted paragraph. If you are tempted to ask an AI to write your feedback, skip it. "I don't like this photo" from you is worth more to the designer than five hundred words from something that never saw the page.
Check your phone. Half your customers will see this on a phone. Switch to Mobile and look again.
Say what you like, too. "Keep this" is useful information. It stops good things being changed in the next round.
Finish review when you are done. Nothing is sent to the team until you do. It also locks your feedback so it cannot be changed later, which protects you as much as them.
No. Open the link and type your name. That is it.
Yes, from the same link, until you hit Finish review. After that the round is locked; if you have more feedback, the team can open the next round.
Yes. Forward the link. Everyone types their own name and their comments are labelled.
Yes, your own comments, until the review is finished.
Approve means it is good to go, and records your name and the time. Send feedback means you want changes and sends your comments to the team for the next round.
It is visible to the team that sent the link and to anyone else they share it with. It is not public.
If you are the agency, not the reviewer: this is the page your clients see when they click Help. Everything else about HopBack is on the homepage.
